"Heart of Asia" Documentary on Ethnic Minority Culture in Kashgar, Xinjiang

Xinjiang, the meeting place of Chinese and Western civilizations, the artery of the ancient Silk Road.

Zhang Qian opened up the road from the Central Plains to the Western Regions, Ban Chao incorporated the Western Regions into the territory of the Han Dynasty, and Xuanzang's travels to the West facilitated the spread of Buddhist culture in China. Today, Xinjiang not only has a rich historical heritage but also unique ethnic cultures and natural landscapes. Volunteers will document and show the world the beauty of Xinjiang's culture and historical stories by producing documentaries and other means, becoming cultural communicators of the new era.

Public Service Mentorship Team

1. Mentor Portrait: Ancient Silk Road culture research scholars and Western ethnic culture enthusiasts, over 300 hours of folk field research, multiple perspectives to interpret the cultural integration of Xinjiang.
2. Professional Workshops: Thematic workshops such as ASDAN Documentary, Simulated Interviews, Expressions, etc.; Western Kashgar Humanities Workshop, Kirgiz Manas Music Workshop, and Tajik Folk Culture Workshop.
3. Full Guidance: Pre-trip academic training and 1V1 research guidance from the trip leader.

1. Real Contact with the Research Topic: Western Silk Road culture instructors, Western border guardians, local Kyrgyz musicians, Tajik folk artists.
2. Unique Experiences: Explore the ancient city of Kashgar, penetrate the Pamir Plateau, experience the live music of Manas and Tajik folk art, and hike in Moustagh Glacier Park.
3. Diversified Outcomes: ASDAN online report, documentary film on the theme of cultural stories of the Western Regions.

"Volunteering + Research", exclusively designed by ASDAN China, is an academic growth model that combines research-oriented learning and voluntary service. We refer to the authoritative theory of education, admission requirements of universities, 10 years of project experience, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to design our programs. ASDAN "Volunteering + Research" Programs cover four categories: Teach for Rural Areas, Community Support, Wildlife & Environment Conservation, and Cultural Heritage Conservation. Volunteers will experience rich and unique service scenarios and learn from different topics of research workshops concerning real social problems.
